Vijender Gupta, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and BJP leader, criticized the AAP-led Delhi government, accusing them of making baseless allegations to shift focus away from their own issues.
He stated, “The party that once claimed to uphold honesty has now abandoned that path. Leaders who once spoke about integrity are now mired in corruption. As people continue to leave the party, these allegations serve as a distraction to cover up their own shortcomings.”
Gupta’s comments came in response to AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s accusation that the resignation of Kailash Gahlot was part of a BJP conspiracy and “dirty politics.” Speaking to ANI, Singh argued, “Kailash Gahlot’s resignation is a direct result of BJP’s dirty politics and conspiracy.
The BJP government has raided him with the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax officials, accusing him of financial wrongdoing. These pressures forced him to take such a step, and he had no choice but to join the BJP.”
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also added his voice to the criticism, pointing out, “Kailash Gahlot has clearly stated that Kejriwal and the AAP have never cared about the people of Delhi. The issues related to roads, sewers, and traffic have worsened under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, demonstrating the party’s failure.”
Kailash Gahlot’s resignation from AAP on Sunday highlighted his concerns about the party straying from its founding principles and its internal challenges. In his resignation letter, he explained that the growing political ambitions within AAP had overshadowed its focus on public service, preventing it from addressing the basic needs of Delhi’s residents.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has accepted Gahlot’s resignation, which comes ahead of the National Capital’s 2025 assembly elections. In his letter, Gahlot expressed disappointment over the party’s move from prioritizing the welfare of the public to focusing on political ambitions, which he believes has hindered their ability to deliver essential services.
