Vice President Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, her vice-presidential running mate, plan to engage with top campaign donors through a call scheduled for next week, according to a source familiar with the arrangements. The upcoming call follows Harris’s loss to President-elect Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump achieved victory in all seven battleground states, claimed the popular vote, and made inroads in traditionally Democratic areas. Harris and Walz are set to address the Democratic National Finance Committee on Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. EST, the source indicated.
In invitations sent to donors, Democratic National Committee (DNC) finance directors Michael Pratt and Colleen Coffey expressed gratitude for the donors’ support, noting that Harris and Walz look forward to reconnecting and showing appreciation for their partnership.
During the campaign, Harris’s team shattered fundraising records, amassing over $1 billion in just three months. However, following the defeat, questions have been raised about the campaign’s financial management, particularly with reports of a $20 million debt.
Patrick Stauffer, the campaign’s chief financial officer, recently addressed these concerns, asserting that as of Election Day, no debts or overdue bills remained, and there would be no reported debt on filings for the post-general report.
Criticism has emerged regarding certain campaign expenditures, including high-profile production costs for events featuring celebrities like Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey. Some within the party have advocated for a comprehensive audit of campaign finances and associated Super PACs to evaluate spending practices.
Democratic strategist Rodell Mollineau emphasized the importance of examining all aspects of the campaign, stating that while it is natural to question decisions after a loss, it is unfair to assume that every expenditure was wasteful.
