Florida Sheriff Chad Chronister has been selected by President-elect Trump as his nominee to lead the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Trump expressed his satisfaction with the nomination on Truth Social, sharing his confidence in Chronister’s abilities to take on the role.
“Sheriff Chad Chronister has served the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for over 32 years and has been recognized with numerous awards for his dedication to ensuring community safety,” Trump stated. If confirmed, Chronister would oversee efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking, focusing on substances such as fentanyl and other opioids.
Chronister’s extensive experience in law enforcement includes graduating from the FBI National Academy’s 260th Session and serving as co-chair of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for Tampa Bay’s Region IV. He also held a position on the Florida Attorney General’s Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, reflecting his broad contributions to public safety initiatives.
Trump highlighted Chronister’s upcoming collaboration with Attorney General Pam Bondi, emphasizing their shared commitment to strengthening border security and reducing the influx of dangerous drugs like fentanyl into the country. “As DEA Administrator, Chad will work alongside Pam Bondi to secure the border, halt the flow of illegal drugs, and save lives,” Trump remarked.
