WHY? – Greetings from Brooklyn’s Jelly Pool Parties!

After last year’s LPR show, WHY? made another splash as a NY summer staple with this year’s Williamsburg Waterfront performance. Their visit to Brooklyn kicked off the first Sunday of 2010’s Jelly Pool Parties – promoting hangouts, open air, drinking in the daytime, and FREE live music! WHY?’s multifaceted sound was fluid live and unusually crisp for the outdoors – an adept arrangement the guys made sure to credit their very own sound guy for! The towering setup created residual echoes that made the audio appear heavier and more intricate than ever. The generous hour of dings, jangles and guitar buzz over the lyricist’s “cool as a rail” emanations paired the event’s chill-out attitude. The band’s comfortable disposition made room for a freer and more relaxed WHY? to shimmer, awakening singing voices from the shore of sweat and sunglasses before them. Yoni Wolf was extra expressive, making all around fun a point with pantomimes and ridiculously awesome dancing anywhere he could fit. We couldn’t help just smiling stupidly throughout their set and lovingly thinking “These guys!”
